Take a journey to the enchanted woods and lakes of Finland to learn life lessons taught with humor, whimsy, and love.Troll Tales and Other Stories from Grandma’s Cottage is a series of books which impart important life lessons about self-awareness, friendship, kindness, problem-solving, courage, and consideration for others. Join Oscar and his friends on these exciting adventures into the Finnish forest!

In Oscar and the Awful, Horrible Smell, Oscar the troll goes on an adventure through the forest as he searches for the source of a very stinky smell. This story introduces new adjectives through repetition, as Oscar puts himself into humorous and often awkward situations as he hunts down the increasingly awful, horrible smell.

This tale also teaches children about personal hygiene and self-awareness in a gentle, humorous way that will delight readers of all ages.

In Oscar and Otto, Oscar just wants to have a bit of relaxing fun fishing in his local lake, but his plans are disrupted when Otto, a slippery fish, steals all his worms. Otto brags to all his friends about how he was able to trick the unsuspecting fisherman.

This story teaches children about the dangers of bragging and harboring bad feelings about others. It shows children that friendship can be found in surprising places and friendship is always more fun than fighting!

In Oscar and the Noisy Children, four other children go for a walk in the woods, leaving the fifth, Nathaniel, behind. The young boy is hurt, angry, and tries to follow them, but in his frustration, he is not paying attention to where he is walking and gets into a sticky situation.

Fortunately, Oscar the shy troll is watching the noisy children who have invaded his quiet woods. Oscar first tries to alert the other children. Then together they find a way to rescue Nathaniel.

This story teaches children to be aware and considerate of others. It also demonstrates working together to solve a problem while affirming that different skills and temperaments each have a role and a useful purpose.
